The duo setting provides a perfect stage for this mix of melodic, impressionist and modern forms of expression. In many ways, the words romance and melodic are synonymous. The intensely warm tone of Wagner Campos works well with Mr. Ferguson's emotionally accurate pianism. The duo becomes one as they explore the last century of classical composition. Of special note is the duo's treatment of Argentinian composer Carlos Guastavino's neo-Romantic masterpiece, Sonata For Clarinet And Piano. Guastavino's knowledge of the classical period rivals Stravinsky.
