French Groundbreakers Lecture Recital

Artistic director Rick Ferguson will explore the lives, music and legacies of groundbreaking French composers Louise Farrenc (1804-1875) and Lili Boulanger (1893-1918). Farrenc was the first (and only) woman to hold a professorship at the Paris Conservatoire of Music during the nineteenth century. Boulanger was the first woman to win the prestigious Prix de Rome composition prize.

Mr. Ferguson will be joined by cellist Veronica Kolegas in Farrenc's Sonata for Cello and Piano, Opus 46 and soprano Anna Joy Buegel in a selection of songs by Boulanger.
